Best for teams that want to get started right away without reliability worries

While technically our second edition, it is one-on-one with our first and packs all the power of our self-hosted Community Edition, just without the considerations of self-hosting.

It is our fully managed edition that is compliant, reliable, and enterprise-ready with plans for teams of 10 to 10,000.

Community

For the open-source enthusiasts, makers, and adopters who want to customize everything

At 99.9% parity with the Free plan of our Cloud and Commercial editions, it packs,

• Unlimited users, projects, and work items
• List, Kanban, Calendar, Timeline, and Table layouts
• Cycles, Modules, Intake, Pages
• Several deployment methods both official and community-supported

Commercial

For scaling teams that want to control their reliability and have the technical expertise to manage their own Plane instance

Not every team can run on a shared Cloud. Some need full control for compliance, data sovereignty, or custom infra reasons.

Our Commercial Edition is perhaps the only viable modern project management solution for those teams. As in the table above, it mirrors our Cloud in features and plans but runs on your own infra behind the perimeter of your controls.

Airgapped

For teams Defense, Aerospace, Government, and Healthcare that need complete lockdown to comply with mandatory regulation

Available only for our Enterprise customers, this variant of our Commercial Edition, as its name suggests, is completely cut off from the public Internet and was born out of no-nonsense conversation with a CISO of a Federal contractor.

"It’s a non-starter unless you can guarantee zero external connections. We love your platform, but our federal contracts require complete isolation. Not minimal connections or essential traffic—I mean nothing leaves our network. Can you do that?"

The frantic duct-tape first edition has turned into one of our most strategic product offerings. True isolation is now a reality with Plane. Nothing leaves your network. Nothing calls home. As long as your infra is airgapped, Plane remains arigapped.

Choosing the right edition and plan

It is simple to choose from one of our editions.

• If you can self-host or must, we recommend starting with the Commercial Edition for wider support, quick upgrades to paid plans, and an easy ramp to Airgapped later.
• If you’re in a regulated industry, Airgapped is a no-brainer.
• If you don’t need to self-host, sign up for a free workspace on our Cloud and upgrade to a paid plan when you are ready.
• If you would much rather tinker with Plane and build atop, our Community Edition is it.
