Initiatives, new importers, and new integrations🎉
You asked for Initiatives, Epics, and Teamspaces. We have got the third and final of those three out now along with a useful new home for Wiki and a bunch of importers. Before any of that, though, an important change that you will welcome.
✍️ Issues are now Work Items
For the longest time, our top users and adopters were developers. Issues made sense to them, and while they had a slightly negative meaning, other teams made do. Our audience split started changing after we launched Pro last year, though, and by the end of the year, we had overwhelming feedback, even from developers, to trade Issues in for a more neutral term so more teams could get on Plane.
Introducing Work Items as a worthy successor and a term that's wide in accommodating all teams anywhere

Related changes

- Issue Types are now Work Item Types
- Work Items goes beyond traditional issue tracking to more project management use cases in more teams than ever before.
- It folds any term you like into a type, unlocked with Work Item Types.
- It is the first of several planned steps to make Plane more collaborative, unifying, and flexible.

🔗 Brand new integrations and one written again from scratch
Our most anticipated integrations are rolling out—starting with your top requests—GitHub, Slack, and GitLab. More on the way soon, but for now, details ↓
GitHub
Software Engineering and Product teams will like this one a lot.
- Bi-directional syncing
Issues, pull requests, labels, comments, and more stay in sync between GitHub and Plane. - Efficient collaboration
Mention teammates, close issues automatically from pull requests, and keep everyone in the loop whether they work in GitHub or Plane. - State and workflow maps
PR states can be mapped to your Plane workflows, so merging or closing a PR updates corresponding issues automatically.
Slack
Bring project conversations into Slack channels, create issues from chats, and see real-time updates without leaving Slack.
- Tasks from chats
Messages in Slack become Plane issues in clicks. Subsequent comments or updates reflect instantly in both places. - Slash (/) commands
Quickly create new work items with titles, descriptions, and all other props or details from Slack using /plane. - Live previews
Plane links in Slack are constantly updated with the latest from Plane and changes you make in one place from Slack show everywhere else in Slack, too.
GitLab
Link pull requests and Plane issues so your work in Plane moves automatically with changes from GitLab.
- Pull request sync
Connect GitLab pull requests directly to corresponding Plane issues. - Automatic updates
Use keywords, e.g., “closes #14”, to close or update Plane issues when PR statuses change. - Trackable workflows
Track each step of the PR lifecycle from Draft, open, review to Merge within Plane.
