What's new
Comment at the page level
You can now comment on an entire page without selecting specific text. Page-level comments give broader feedback its own space, so teams can discuss the overall direction, share updates, and make decisions right alongside the content.
- Maintain page and inline comments together. Use the Page and Inline toggle to switch between comments about the entire page and feedback tied to specific text. Inline comments continue to work as before, while broader discussions now have a dedicated space.
- Keep the conversation in threads. Reply to any comment to keep a discussion together instead of letting it scatter. Drop an emoji reaction when a quick nod will do,
@mention a teammate to pull them in, and attach an image when a screenshot or mockup adds more context.
- Find the comment you're after. Filter comments by status to show active, resolved, or both, so a busy page stays readable. Filter by user to see only what one person commented. Copy a link to any comment to send a teammate straight to it, and that link drops them right on the thread.
Filter and chart dashboards by custom properties
Every team tracks something Plane doesn't ship a field for. Your dashboards can now read those custom properties too, so the things you set up for your own workflow finally show up in reporting. Two ways to put them to work:
- Filter by custom properties. Apply custom property filters to dashboard widgets to report on work items that match specific values. For example, filter a widget to show only work items where the custom property ARR is set to $50k+
- Chart by custom properties. Use custom properties as chart axes to group and visualize work items beyond built-in fields like state or assignee. For example, group work items by custom ARR ranges to see how work is distributed across different customer revenue segments.
- Refreshed empty states across Plane with a consistent design, along with several smaller interface improvements.
- Improved the reliability of large ZIP file transfers by splitting them into smaller chunks.
- Added support for cycles and modules in teamspace filters.
- Creating a work item now defaults to the last project you visited or created work in, provided you still have permission to create work items there.
- Read notifications now appear less prominently in the inbox sidebar, making unread notifications easier to spot.
- Refined comment threads and the comment box on updates, with comment counts that stay in sync.
- Initiative lists and boards now display properties in the same order as the initiative detail page.
- Progress calculations now exclude cancelled work items across cycles, modules, sub-work items, analytics, widgets, Slack and Teams previews, and Plane AI. Cancelled items are shown separately, for example, "4/18 (2 cancelled)".
- Board columns can now be collapsed even when sub-grouping is enabled.
- Plane AI now flags expired or outdated MCP authentication credentials, making connection issues easier to identify.
- Improved Plane AI response times for faster interactions.
- Custom property descriptions are now visible in work item detail and peek views, providing more context when working with properties.
- Corrected work items appearing in unrelated groups when filtering and grouping by the same multi-value property, including in published views.
- Resolved issues with creating multiple nested pages simultaneously that could result in failed operations, duplicate links, or missing child pages.
- Addressed a Plane AI service startup delay that could cause repeated restarts when monitoring was enabled.
- Fixed permission checks across workspace settings, member management, project templates, grouping controls, and role changes.
- Resolved interface issues with project state forms, work item type forms, member actions, and duplicate project icons.
- Selecting "No estimate" now correctly removes estimates across work item views, sidebars, sub-work items, windows, and drafts.
- Fixed layout issues in the Linux desktop app when maximizing the window.
- Archived cycles now load their side panels and burn-down charts correctly.
- Restored Slack project notifications when work item states are changed from the Kanban board.
- Boolean property filters now correctly return work items when filtering by "false".
- Restored the missing "Copy branch name" button in work item headers.
- Fixed draw.io diagram previews in dark mode and after saving changes to a diagram.
- Restored the AI quick actions menu in the document editor.
- ClickUp imports no longer remain stuck in the "transforming" state when sign-in details are missing.
- Fixed link editing in the comment box, preventing truncated links and restoring expected Enter and Save behavior.
